MCT’s world-leading machining facilities are utilised across the automotive, motorsport, aerospace and affiliated sectors. From aircraft engine blocks to pistons for kart racing, MCT offers an unrivalled machining capability.

MCT’s infrastructure includes state-of-the-art five axis multi-pallet machining centres, operating 24 hours a day. Other equipment includes profiling lathes, as well as dedicated test-bed facilities, used as part of MCT’s commitment to market-leading levels of quality and performance. Finishing of products is undertaken with surface finishing, deburring, lapping and peening equipment.

The machining offer is driven by a commitment to quality that has process control very much at its heart. Castings are checked even before they are machined in order to deliver MCT’s right first time philosophy, while verification software is utilised to highlight any undetected imperfections at the start of the process.

Final inspection of all products is undertaken with computerised co-ordinate measuring programmes and an automated roundness geometry measuring system, capable of measuring accuracy levels to less than 0.1µ.

MCT knows that time is critical to its clients and therefore polychrystalline diamond (PCD) cutting tools are used in order to reduce cycle times. Many organisations work with carbide tooling but with PCD, machining times can be reduced by up to 30% on a batch of pistons, for example. And MCT continues to invest in diamond cutting capabilities in order to further increase its productivity and component reliability.
